Minerals are naturally occurring chemicals that are found on water, rocks and earth. Each mineral has a distinctive character. Some minerals have a capacity for emitting light and they are called as fluorescent minerals. Some minerals can release electricity when their crystals are put under pressure. These are piezoelectric minerals. These minerals are also capable of producing a small jerk when electricity is supplied to it. These minerals are used in clocks and also in gas lighters. There are also some special minerals that have radioactivity. These are the minerals that could run giant nuclear power plants and could cure cancer.
